Bomburu Ella Waterfall Sri Lanka Tourist Place
π️ The Bomburu Ella Waterfall, also known as Perawella Falls, was one of my favourite places to visit in the region around Nuwara Eliya and Ella. With a height of about 50 m (164 ft) and a width of more than 20 m (65 ft), this is Sri Lanka’s widest waterfall.
Bomburu Falls is a 30-minute drive (and short hike) from Nuwara Eliya, which is often dubbed Little England. If you’re asking me, this is one of these places that cannot be missed from any itinerary for Sri Lanka. This charming town is surrounded by tea plantations and lush green forests.
You will find everything you need to know if you’re planning on visiting the Bumburu Ella Falls in this guide. This includes how to get there, the best time to visit and some insider tips.
So, let’s dive into it!
The Bomburu Ella Waterfall is one of the most beautiful landmarks in Sri Lanka and one that cannot be missed during a visit to Nuwara Eliya.
Set in the middle of lush green forests, what makes these falls so special is that they’re a collection of about ten waterfalls that merged, forming one wide waterfall.
This is a truly spectacular sight and there’s a grassland in front of the falls. This is a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature for a while.
How to get to the Bomburu Ella Waterfall
The Bomburu Ella Waterfall is located 14 km (8.7 mi) from Nuwara Eliya or 50 km (31 mi) from Ella, in central Sri Lanka. Although you can visit it from Ella too, if you’re heading to Nuwara Eliya, it is better to visit these falls from here.
