The Miracle of the Pekoe Trail sri lanka Tourist Place
π️ The Miracle of the Pekoe Trail
The Pekoe Trail is a wonderful idea by Miguel Cunat. He is an expert in such creative endeavors and a creative person with a special interest in Sri Lanka. With his and many others’ collective and dedication, they have managed to mark the longest walking trail in Sri Lanka today, through the Central Highlands of Sri Lanka, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
“PEKOE” means black tea. Black tea from Sri Lanka or Ceylon is highly regarded all over the world. So “Pekoe trail” can be said to be “Black Tea Trail”. Simply put, this term is associated with the tea and colonial heritage of our Central Highlands.
This trail is a long-distance walking trail of more than 300 kilometers that passes through the Central Highlands of Sri Lanka. It allows tourists to explore the diverse terrain, history, culture, food and local communities across the Central Highlands on foot. The trail consists of 22 stages. They can be explored as short segments or as part of a multi-day experience.
This wonderful trail invites tourists from all over the world to experience the natural beauty, biodiversity, historical heritage, socio-cultural diversity and the warmth of Sri Lankan hospitality with its smiling faces. Not only that, this trail has created a valuable breeding ground for alternative tourism sources, both conceptually and practically. Sharing the benefits and responsibilities of the tourism industry and environmental conservation among local communities, and the ethics of responsible tourism by tourists, are among these.
If you are going to experience the wonders of the Pico Trail, it is important to remember to “bring nothing but beautiful memories and photographs, and leave nothing but footprints” because the Pico Trail itself is a source that has the potential to become a new and profound tourism category in Sri Lankan tourism. A walk is worth a thousand steps only if you go on such a path.
